1948 Ranch Home Facelift

*In Construction*
The client's for this mid-century remodel purchased the 1940's home as a vacation rental. They wanted to keep the original home's charm, while also giving it a modern update. Much of the home's original facade remains, but updated finishes give it a new look.
Since the house will remain a vacation home, we kept the footprint small, but opened up the floor plan to create a more user-friendly space. Only blocks from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the home allows the client's to feel like they are on vacation while still feeling at home.

Updated 1940's Home
A 1940's home in Pacific Beach was in need of a major makeover when the homeowner's purchased it. So, we gutted the existing interior and added all new flooring, fixtures, electrical, paint, etc. The existing Kitchen was opened to the Living Room to create a Great Room and a 1,200 sf 2-story addition was designed to extend from the Kitchen. The new addition includes a Master Suite, Office, Laundry Room, Powder Room, and downstairs Entertainment Room, Kitchenette/Bar, and Guest Bath.

La Jolla Coastal

The clients for this coastal home were craving an updated kitchen that was more user friendly, had more storage, and was more suitable for entertaining guests. To achieve this, I reconfigured the layout and added a bar. The cabinetry was more than tripled, while still allowing an open space above the cooktop to create an accent wall of cabinet-to-ceiling tile.
The materials chosen were white, shaker style cabinetry with a blue-gray glass 4x12 subway tile and Pental Quartz Azul Aran for the countertops. We replaced the existing linoleum with a wide plank oak flooring to coordinate with the existing oak floors in the Living Room, making a more cohesive transition into the space.
Even the dog loves it!

Custom Office Sign
The design for Nau Builders' office sign was intended to be modern, strong, and captivating, especially to the locals who often walk around the area at night.
It is made out of cut oxidized copper, which is laid on top of a beautiful solar backlit piece of onyx. During the day, the copper's blue oxidization and yellow tinted onyx play off the company's logo colors and at night it is simplistically illuminated.

Pacific Beach Duplex

Nau Builders, Inc. was the contractor for this new duplex built in Pacific Beach, CA designed by Howard Anderson & Assosiates Architects. When construction was in the beginning phase, the owner's wanted a 3D model built so they could see how their future home would look. This helped them with final decisions, such as materials, color, landscaping, etc. BYoung Designs created multiple renders for the owner's and for the real estate agents.

Exterior Spanish Remodel

For this exterior remodel, the owner had a vision for the design he wanted, so I helped him put it on paper so it could be built. I created working drawings and renders.
Renders and a sketchup model allowed the subs to figure exactly how much material they needed which incured very little waste. The design includes replaced grassed areas with native landscaping, custom designed gates leading to private courtyards, and an exterior lounge space with a firepit and fountain. The new layout makes the lot seem larger, creates more usable space, and adds to the character of the existing Spanish home.

From Dated to Fresh

This client purchased an investment home that needed most of the finishes replaced. The existing house was dark, stuffy, and dated. So, I brought in some new finishes to put the life back into the cozy home.
