About
I have a passion for design. I am a Chico State graduate with a BFA in Interior Architecture and minor in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. I love geometry, form, and space. The relationship between our interior living space and the exterior environment is a huge inspiration for my designs. I believe architecture can blend with the natural world rather than compete with it. Maintaining a healthy, sustainable design approach is my main objective.

Inspiration
“A building is alive, like a man. Its integrity is to follow its own truth, its one single theme, and to serve its own single purpose. A man doesn’t borrow pieces of his body. A building doesn’t borrow hunks of its soul. Its maker gives it the soul and every wall, window and stairway to express it."

I currently work for the general contractor Nau Builders, Inc., in La Jolla, CA, the architecture firm TriEngle Architects, and work as an independent contractor under BYoung Designs. At Nau Builders, I started and run their design division, which focuses on design-build projects. At TriEngle Architects I am part of a design team that works on projects ranging from restaurant remodels to skyrises. I am also currently studying for my Masters in Architecture, which I plan to complete in Spring 2017.
I received my Bachelors degree from California State University Chico, which has a great design program. I became fluent in computer skills, construction documents, interiors, and all things design. Our projects were challenging and thoughtful, encouraging us to think outside of the box.
I have loved design from an early age and attribute my early knowledge of the subject to my father who helped me see new ways of looking at architecture. The environment has always been a driving force behind my designs, leading me to acquire my LEED Green Associates credential. I am inspired by the world around me when it comes to design and feel lucky to be doing what I love.
