Daycare Design
This daycare was designed to create a dynamic environment for children to feel free to be themselves and express their own thoughts. Using bright colors and bold shapes, the design encourages kids to look beyond limiting forms and basic concepts. They are allowed to follow their own imagination, the possibilities to express themselves are endless.
Because this daycare was designed using an existing building, the structural columns and facade had to remain. However, to create an interesting design, the sides of the building were angled out to mimic the triangular shape found throughout the center. This shape also directs your eye out to the exterior, where you can watch the children play.

Office Design
This corporate office was designed with a minimal, yet fun approach. Light Bamboo flooring is seen throughout, as well as on certain walls. Frosted glass partitions curve through the space to create privacy. Every so often, the frosted glass is substituted with a transparent green glass to bring in the color of the company’s logo.
The organic shapes and materials, as well as the pops of color create a natural, creative space which allows employees to feel comfotable yet still inspired.

Cafe Design
The Blank Canvas is a cafe designed for artists to come relax and work on art. The design is supposed to evoke creativity, while keeping the creativity up to one’s own perception by staying with a simple color palette.
The lighting was designed to be eclectic, while sticking with the minimalist feel of the architecture. The space is small and narrow, but by creating an open ceiling, large windows and lighting the space effectively, the cafe appears open and inviting.

Office Design
Green By Nature is an organic and environmentally friendly landscape company, specializing in edible and native landscaping. This design, for their downtown San Diego location, is simple, sustainable, and unique to fit their mission.
This office design was created out of four 20’ x 9’ x 8.5’ storage containers and placed on the edge of a downtown parking. The location uses urban infill and recycled materials, allowing the building to be very environmentally friendly.

Resort Design
Pacific Palms Marina Resort is a development project being built in Fiji. The design for their lobby is clean, fresh, and modern. Instead of taking the inspiration for the design from the vegetation, the design is inspired from the crisp horizon line, the contrast between the colors of the sand, sea, and sky, and the element of floating on top of the ocean. This design helps visitors enjoy the natural surroundings without taking away from it.
A water feature is seen throughout the lobby, which joins together to form a single line that runs to the infinity pool along the ocean. This draws the eye instantly to the ocean, allowing visitors to have a connection with the water as soon as they arrive.

Modern Community Study
For my senior thesis I designed a sustainable community development. I wanted to redefine the typical American tract home to be sustainable, yet still affordable. Community interaction, healthy living, and sustainability are the key factors for this new community.
Here you will see two floor plans that have small building footprints. The layout of the community is done in “pods” with central parks to create community interaction. Each “pod” has a communal edible garden that is sustained by the residents. In the center of the development is an area where everyone can come together. There is a community center that holds yoga, cooking classes, sustainability courses, etc. These are open to the public for a small fee (free to residents) to bring the people of the city in, creating education and raising awareness.

Loft Design
This client was a mid-to-late 30-year-old male. He is a career man with an edge. He enjoys sports, traveling, and taking care of the environment. He’s eclectic and fire-y, yet masculine and he definitely has a wild side.
This San Fransisco Loft was designed to have masculine qualities, but to show off his eclectic side as well. This was achieved with a black, white, and red palette, with various textiles and accessories. Bookcases on swivels allow the space to completely open up when he is entertaining and close when he requires privacy.

Sustainable Design
This home was designed for a couple Jane and Juile and their son Jack. Each member of the family is very intellectual. Jane is a vegan chef and very environmentally conscious, Julie is a biomedical scientist as well as a freelance writer, and Jack excels in math and science and is autistic, so he is very in tune with details.
I decided to design their home based on the Fibonacci sequence. The famous sequence brings a completely different intelligence to this design. It is not literal; it breaks down mathematics to create the space. The sequence is known to be the blueprint of intelligent design, which worked perfectly for this family. Jane will appreciate the organic nature that the sequence brings and Julie and Jack will appreciate the math behind the design.
The home is also designed environmentally friendly with items such as photovoltaics, recycled materials, native landscaping, stormwater collection and more.
